Providing Treatment Options for Allergies that Affect Patient's Nose and Sinuses
Immunotherapy works by gradually exposing the immune system to specific allergens that the body is hypersensitive to. This method serves to de-sensitize the immune system to lessen or eliminate allergy symptoms.
Subcutaneous immunotherapy involves injecting customized allergy formula into the fatty tissue in the upper arm. We mix your specific formula and administer injections here in our office. If you are not local, you can still receive immunotherapy from us if you have a primary care provider that agrees to administer your injections. We mix your specific formula in our office and mail it to your primary care office.
Sublingual immunotherapy involves administering drops of customized allergy formula underneath the tongue every day from the comfort of your home. We mix your specific formula here in our office and can mail it to your door or have it ready for you to pick up in our office. You don’t have to hassle with frequent office visits with this option, and it is ideal for those who struggle with shots.
Duration for full allergy treatment is 3 to 5 years for both the subcutaneous and sublingual immunotherapy options. Most patients notice relief from their allergy symptoms within weeks to a few months.
We require annual visits with one of our ENT specialists for the duration of immunotherapy.
